I'm Melissa! I'm the owner of On Command Dog Training. I have been working with dogs since 2016. I started training at a dog resort in Sacramento where I learned the basics of dog behavior. I then decided to take on my own business to continue to help enrich the lives of dogs and their owners. My goal is to help you communicate and have the best relationship possible with your dog. I train everything from basic obedience, to leash training, to behavior modification. I work with all ages, and any breed! As a trainer my job is to not only teach the dog, but to teach you as well. You will learn how to properly handle your dog in all situations, both in the home and out!

I'm Megan! I started my training journey alongside my sister at the beginning of this year. I have grown up with large and giant breed dogs such as Great Danes, Mastiffs, Bloodhounds, and more, and have always had a strong passion for dogs. I have been in the customer service industry for 6 years and have a true passion connecting with people. With combining my love for dogs, and passion for people, I am so excited to help teach dog owners how to properly communicate and build a relationship with their dog that will last a lifetime. With adopting a dog of my own back in 2020, I know the true value of training your dog to fit your lifestyle and for them to be truly reliable in any situation.

We started first in customer service where they learned the true value of connecting with people and providing them with excellent service. We know the value that true good customer service holds. We pride ourselves in being not only a dog person, but a people person too! Our goal is to make you, as our client, feel comfortable and confident. We will work on coaching you in a positive and exciting way, that will leave you feeling encouraged about dog training! We will run through all exercises until you are fully confident, and will explain everything in multiple ways to help you fully understand everything about your dogs behavior. When you start training with us, we become a lifeline for you. You will have access to our phone number where you can call, or text with any questions in between training sessions! You will get hands on application, and homework that works with YOU and YOUR busy schedule.

We are Balanced Trainers. What that means is we use a combination of both positive reinforcement, and corrections at the appropriate time(s) to communicate with the dog. We use positive reinforcement (most of the time done with treats, toys, or affection) and layer in the use of physical leash pressure when needed to help communicate to the dog right versus wrong. This allows for clear, and easy expectations for our dogs to continue to grow and fully understand in a way that is not stressful, or harmful.

Melissa is absolutely wonderful!! We are first time dog owners and needed help with training our 3 month old German Shepherd. When I called her we set up our first session and she helped over the phone with some training tips before we even met. She has helped us solve demand barking, difficult walks, potty training, socializing, and so much more. Anytime I have a question she is always willing to talk or text about it. One of my favorite things about her training is that she is focused on what works best for Dakota and us. She is willing to try different techniques, not just this is the way I train and that is the only way to do something. Lastly and probably the most important thing is that Dakota absolutely loves her!!

I hesitate to write this review because I'm selfish. But, credit earned is credit deserved and On Command definitely deserves it! Melissa does an outstanding job training both the dog and the owners. We started using her because we really had no solid foundation on how to train our golden retriever. She showed up at our home and we instantly loved her and so did Zinnia our puppy. We elected to board/train her while we left for vacation and she exceeded all our expectations. Zinnia is a fantastic dog and we have plenty of information and tools to continue working with her on our own, but Melissa will continue being our trainer on more advanced skills (service dog) and we feel like we have made a new friend also. So PLEASE, do not hesitate to call her but make sure to leave us some time too!

BARFIELD PARK

PRIVATE TRAINING SESSION

$100

This session will include meeting either Melissa at Barfield Park in Murfreesboro, or Megan at Richard Siegel Park also in Murfreesboro. We will work hands on with you and your dog for 45 minutes to an hour. We will target and work on your most important goals. At the end of each session you will receive a detailed step by step recap for you to work on with your dog until we meet for another session.

1 WEEK BASIC OBEDIENCE BOARD & TRAIN

$1,600

This package is best suited for anyone wanting a "jump start" to their dogs overall obedience.

With this package your dog will live alongside me and my pack in my home. Due to to them living in my home they will learn all house manners that a dog may not be able to grasp in a boarding facility! This package includes all house manners along with:

Sit
Down
Place
Heel on leash (no pulling)
Basic to "Come" when called
Jumping
Overall Manners
& Any specific goals you have for your dog!

All needed training tools will be included in this package such as:

Training Collar (most commonly a prong collar)
6 Foot Leash

After the 1 Week training program is completed, you will get a 1 hour private session to demonstrate all your d0g has learned, and for you to get hands on training with your dog to ensure you are equipped and confident in following through on all commands taught.

IN HOME
PRIVATE SESSION

$140* Up to 20 miles away
$175 *Up to 40 miles away

This session will include meeting at your home, or location of your choice. We will work hands on with you and your dog for 45 minutes to an hour. We will target and work on your most important goals. At the end of each session you will receive a detailed step by step recap for you to work on with your dog until we meet for another session.

2 WEEK ADVANCED OBEDIENCE BOARD & TRAIN

$2,800

This package is best suited for anyone wanting all basic & advanced skills for their dog. This package will ensure your dog is fully off leash trained and completely reliable in all settings both in the home and out.

With this package you will get everything included in the 1 Week board & train, plus the following:

Complete off leash obedience
- Come when called
- Lets go (Follow me)
- Intro to off leash heeling (walking next to you with no leash)
Prolonged "Stay"

All needed training tools will be included in this package such as:

E Collar
Training Collar (most commonly the prong collar)
6 Foot Leash

After the 2 Week training program is completed, you will get a 1-2 hour private session to demonstrate all your dog has learned, and for you you to get hands on training with your dog to ensure you are fully equipped to follow through at home.

This package includes 1 full year of support & 1 year of unlimited follow up sessions after the board & train is completed if you or your dog struggles with any of the taught commands!

CANCELLATION POLICY

All scheduled private sessions must be cancelled or rescheduled 48 hours prior to the scheduled private session time in order to not have to pay a cancellation/rescheduling fee of $30.

Cancellations/Rescheduled Sessions received less than 48 hours prior to scheduled appointment time will be subject to the $30 rescheduling fee.

Cancellations/Rescheduled Sessions received less than 24 hours prior to scheduled appointment time will be held responsible for full amount of the going rate for a private session.

We take a $200 non-refundable deposit for all booked Board & Train Programs.
